    Hi.

So it's basically as the title suggests, my current laptop is on its last legs, sound is going and the screen just cracked on me.

I'll just go through some specs:

    Manufacturer: Asus

    Model: X555L

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) I5 - 5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20GHz

    RAM: 8.00GB

System Type: 64 bit operating system, x64 based processor

I use the laptop mainly for downloading, streaming, watching youtube, doing some work on Word, Excel etc and for general browsing.

I paid about €500 for my current one, looking to spend similar on the new one but there is some wiggle room if the right laptop came up.

quad-core intel i5 up to 3.4ghz. your old laptop was only two-core.
    ssd
    8gb ram
full hd / 1080p IPS display
lenovo (used to be IBM laptops)

400£ good reliable site that delivers to Ireland

battery life would not be the strongest - probably 5 to 6 hours real-world on low-cpu settings I'd guess but other than that a great deal

will easily handle your uses and more
