Public Service Jobs - strict deadlines ?

    I have missed the deadline to apply to the Legal Aid Board for a position. The deadline was Thursday 11th, with applications accepted by post or email. Does anyone know how strict these deadlines are and if it would be a waste of time doing an application to submit today? The application forms etc. are still available on the website. Thanks

    Very strict, on the whole. For example I applied for a position that stated closing date of x date at 5pm. I got an email back saying that it was recieved by them with a time of 5.02pm on the email, and therefore was not accepted for the competition.
