    Hi All

I changed to Vodafone from eir for my FTTH, now I was out of contract so I understand I was free to change, I completed the change early last week, I got my normal eir bill in today, it has rental from 4th of July till 3rd August surely I don't have to pay that as I will not be using there service??

    Any advice please ??

I did the same in January and continued to get bills. I stopped Direct Debit. Bills continued to arrive, ignored them and they eventually went away.

As a further result of your query, I checked online on my old account. This shows me €53 in CREDIT?? Must check on that.

They charged me for the modem even though I returned, as per their instructions, and they completely ignored a formal complaint about it. I just got absolute radio silence from them.

Won't be rushing back that much I can assure you!

If you have issues, write to them and promise to contact comreg if it's not resolved. Then go to comreg if required.

At this stage I couldn't be bothered. I'm past caring! They charged €59.99 for the returned modem, which I assume they lost and as far as I'm concerned it's a parting slap across the face. I won't be back, ever again.

Flashy logos and adverts are meaningless when they can't even get the most basic of basics of customer care right.

We sent in an email via their complaints form and even included the proof of delivery. No response. Not even an acknowledgement.

I honestly don't have the time or the energy to go chasing it. I just won't ever subscribe to them again.

Am doing same today, waiting for Vodafone engineer as I type. I called to cancel last Wednesday and it was meant to be cut off "within 24 hours". It wasn't and I called them again this morning and it is now. I have mobile contact with them that runs out 4th Dec, was in 2 minds to cancel that as well because early exit fee was slightly cheaper than remaining bills.

After reading this I thought that I should get proof of delivery. Their website has a few return options so chose Parcel Motel. https://www.eir.ie/equipmentreturns/. I also printed out my contract details and name and stuck it to the router.

Did someone from Vodafone have to come out and install new fibre?

My thinking would be Vodafone sell FTTH via their own network, Siro, alongside the OpenEir network, whereas Eir only use their own network, OpenEir.

So if you were in a Siro area, and signed up to Vodafone, they'll set you up on the Siro network which needs a visit by a tech and new fibre to be brought in to the house.

This will not cancel down your old OpenEir service, as far as Eir are concerned they're continuing to provide you with service on their network and will continue to bill you as such.

Mine is still using same FTTH before. Received a call from OpenEir to confirm installation date and engineer came to install new modem. Time from order to installing was 2 working days.

As of now the number of households that have both Siro and Open Eir FTTH available to them is tiny. It would be extremely rare to find someone that's in that position.

It was 27000 premises back in January that were passed by both networks so it's probably a good bit more by now.

That is more than I expected, I wonder how many houses have both lines installed.

I'd say the answer to that one might be tiny!
