Free heating controls

    I was at a customers house the other day. They told me they just had a 2 zone heating controls system (EPH) installed for free. There’s some crowd going around banging them into houses and costing the customer nothing.
    Obviously the crowd doing this are claiming the SEAI grant. I thought this kinda craic wasn’t allowed?

    I got a quote for 3 zone (upstairs, downstairs and hot water tank). It included a hive controller and a tank thermostat. Cost was iirc €1020 euro and the grant + electricity discount came to €1010. The whole thing cost me a tenner.

    I imagine if someone is two zoning and sticking to standard controls they can achieve it for the grant alone (€750 iirc)

    Hi Antiskeptic,
    I'm considering upgrading the controls on my oil fired heating system TRV's etc. if I get my local handy man to do the job will I qualify for the grant ?
    Can I ask how did you manage to get over €1,000 worth of work done for a tenner ?

    Certain SEAI grants actually cannot be applied for by the customer, only by the service provider., deep retrofit for example (an upgrade to A rating)
