Can I use a DSL filter to split a phone line?

I want to set up a wireless system but keep existing handset . I have a spare dsl socket splitter handy, it shows a phone symbol in one socket and a computer screen in the other. Can I use it just as an ordinary splitter and have no impact on voice quality?

Microfilters will allow voice band (low freq) only on the phone side and full pass on the other side.

If you use one as a splitter it will add no protection so if DSL is in use you need filtering "upstream" of it.
