Kadger is better than a Kodger anyhow.

Nice car and not much seems to go wrong. The interior could have been more adventurous and higher quality but that's about it.

That hasn't been true of Renault in many years.

That's amazing given underneath the exterior they are near identical to the Nissan Qashqai. Must be those French robots that build them, the British ones that build the Qashqai are better?

I hear the gearbox in the British one has voted to leave and wants to be able to be part of whatever car it wants but it insists Nissan should cover the cost of its warranty claims in the future.

OP the Kadjar is a solid car. Nothing wrong with it. Interior could be a little better but the exact same could be said of the Qashqai. 1.5dci is a solid engine, I'd avoid the 1.2T petrol however. Too many niggly issues....and some big ones.

I genuinely thought you may have been mixing it up with something different, maybe even a Koleos.

The screen for the radio, sat nav etc can give trouble. Have done one or two but it isnt really a big issue with them. They also give trouble with rear brake calipers which is done under warranty anyway. They like to go through front tyres with the 19 inch wheels but a pretty reliable car all around. Would go for the Signature model if your budget allows

It's true in my 161 Kadjar 5 visits to the dealer in first 5 months of ownership. We are celebrating nearly 2 months without a visit. Faults were battery, sat nav and radio, battery again, interior lights and then stop/start system. This included 2 call outs from Renault assist as well. Genuinely nice car to drive and hopefully faults done with for awhile as had serious conversation with manager re changing the car.

GF works in a Renault garage and has a 191 Megane company car at the mo.
Indicators randomly stopped working the other day, not a peep out of them. Were grand then the next morning.
They're not as bad as they used to be, but they're still not great.

As for the Kadjar, they're not the worst in the world. As mentioned, that 1.5 is a little belter.
Would enough mileage be done to warrant getting the diesel so you don't end up with issues from not driving it enough?

I've a 2010 Renault since new, not one electrical issue. In laws on their second since 2011, same with them, faultless.

You'll always get a lemon with any marque, but they're the exception, far from the rule these days.

Friend of mine has one, drives it daily and it's the 1.5 diesel. Unsure what her mileage is, but she'd be on the road for at least 3 hours a day (5 days a week) i'd say. Mostly backroads and N roads (rarely sees a motorway). Hers is 161 and she's not had any bother with it.

Looked at buying one a few years ago, but every one I drove had rattles, and these were new cars. Wind noise from big mirrors on the motorway annoyed too. One demo had the top window trim coming adrift. They are reliable, stylish cars though.

Not deal breakers but after years of Renault's we ended up getting a Superb for the same money and that car is in a different league. Better built, drives and rides better, much more spacious.

Just found out is a cat S car in England.....

Would have to get it inspected and also check with our insurance if they will insure it....

Any chance there was a warning sound on? Like seat belt unbuckled?

When that is pinging, the tick tock sound doesn't come on but the light still works

Nope, just nothing from it at all, indicators deffo weren't working as she had the same thought so got out to check.

I know French electronics have come on massively in the last while from the disaster that they used to be, but they're still not brilliant.
Then again, general build quality seems to have gone out the door for most cars, judging by some of the stories she's told me of the current place and the one before.

All that aside, that 1.5 is properly bullet proof. Build quality for Renaults does lack a bit, but if you don't mind that, Kadjar's aren't the worst car you could get.

Thats a shame. But I honestly think its just a odd one here or there.

I have a Megane Grand Coupe Signature Auto and it has been rock solid in all respects

While Cat S is the lowest class of UK write off category and could just be a replaced pumper or wing, I'd tend to avoid as it will equally show up on history checks when you go to sell or trade it on in a few years time. Also there are plenty of these cars out there so you can afford to pass this one by.
