I just moved out to the sticks but luckily I was able to get Eir fiber to my house.
    Now I have Eir TV.
Now I dont have bbc1/bbc2 HD.
Am i right in saying I can get these on freesat?

House has an old dish (old Niall quinn BB dish & LNB)

I think my TV might have a built in tuner but im unsure .
Its a panasonic TXL50ET60 and the specs says

    Tuner PAL-I, DVB-T, DVB-T/T2 (MPEG4-AVC [H.264])

So do I need a box? (if so,what is the current favorite )
I must need a new LNB.
Is the old broadband LNB worth money?Someone told me it was.

    Thanks for reading !

If all you want extra is BBC 1&2 in HD, I think if you pay extra €5 per month to eir, you'll get them as part of HD pack.

It seems your TV has only a terrestrial tuner so will not itself be able to tune satellite frequencies from a suitable dish and LNB.

I know nothing of your existing dish.

The niall quinn dish was for satellite BB so the lnb will not work with normal satellite transmissions. I dont know if you can fit a normal LNB on that dish, would need a pic. Apparently it points at 28.5 east so couldpick up ASTRA 28EAST. Might need a tweak. If you could post a pic of dish and lnb it would give an idea if normal lnb could be made fit.

Didn't Q-Sat point its dishes at the then Hylas 1 satellite, positioned at 34°W (33.5°W), if so the dish would have to be repositioned to 28°E with a new LNB.

Had forgotten about Q-Sat and how it collapsed back in May 2017 with a lot of money owing to the satellite operator Avanti Communications, little or no discussion about it here on boards at the time that I remember.

Alphasat Communications Limited (“QSAT”) signed a 7 year deal for capacity back in 2012 but appears not to have had enough customers to pay for that capacity.
Quinn company in €16m satellite deal

    Irish Independent
    24 Jan 2012

A COMPANY chaired by Niall Quinn will pay up to £13.6m (€16.2m) for capacity on a satellite to improve its broadband service. QSAT delivers broadband via satellite to areas not covered by traditional broadband infrastructure. QSAT has bought capacity on Hylas 1 from Avanti Communications. It is a seven-year deal worth a minimum of £9.3m and up to £13.6m.

Niall Quinn’s Q-Sat switched off over dispute with British provider

I'll post a pic of the dish over the weekend.
I've always wanted to try out the free sat stuff but have never been in a position to have a dish on the house.
