I'm just wondering if anyone can identify this fella for me?
I spotted him out walking last night and orginally thought he was a caterpiller from the way he walked. On closer inspection, he definately is not!

Sorry the pics are so bad, it was quite dark. He is roughly about an inch and a half long and humps himself up like a caterpillar (not quite as exaggerated) to get himself moving.

Legs are wrong for a Great Diving Beetle but it's the larval stage of some beetle. Not my field though.

I think it might have gotten washed out of the nearby water ditch in the very heavy rain, after a bit of spot flooding.

Definately looks to be one alright
