I'm not sure if this was posted already in A+PI, I didn't see it, so apologies if double posting.

A call for submissions to be made for a review of the Control of Dogs Act has been put out- they're looking for opinions of groups, professionals & individuals on Breed Specific Legislation & leash laws etc.

We have until 6th September to submit, I've attached the PDF document if any of you are interested in having your say. Link to the post from Dr. Paraic O'Suilleabhain on the matter

I think everyone on the forum probably has a strong enough opinion on the matter... So it would be great to see engagement with it from this community :)

Thanks for posting this. Had a read of it and will attempt to make a submission.

I don’t like the dangerous breed list, but at times it has been beneficial in getting dogs removed for there own safety.

TBH if the councils need a list then all breeds should be listed as all have the potential to be ‘dangerous’ .

I think all the onus should be put on the owners, have a banned people list instead.

Bad owners do get banned from keeping animals. Not sure how well that is or can be enforced

I know & agree it would be difficult to enforce. I was being sarcastic but don’t know how to show that in emoji.

On one hand though, I’ve a neighbour who has a beautiful rottie, a golden lab & a snarky French bulldog. The lab & Rottie are very well trained, friendly & gentle but my god the French bulldog is a horrible little thing. I feel sorry for him cause it’s obvs that whoever owns him didn’t bother to train him at all. Yet if the council went in on the back of a complaint it’s the Rottie that would be removed. That’s what annoys me.
