Electric Power Washer - need a good one

Is it possible to get a good quality electric power washer?
I have gone through 2 Karchers and now another Nilfisk. All ****e. I thought the Nilfisk one was a great job till the handgun started leaking yesterday. Made in China, of course. I opened it up and replaced the o-rings, but no good. Still leaking.

I don't have enough work to justify a tractor mounted one or a good petrol one like Honda. An electric one was ideal for me. Just need a good one.

That's them. They do have irish suppliers. Dont know where you are but kws in kk supply them. They're expensive, but the Rolls Royce of electric washers.

Thanks, I think that's exactly what I want. I had a quick look at them there. I don't mind paying for quality. I've had enough of crap. ;)

Irish suppliers are Galvins in Ballymacelligott near Tralee. Top notch washer. Just keep it away from the car

I bought one a few years back with a Loncin engine and a Interpump pump. It wasn't mad dear. Loncin are pretty well regarded despite being chinese. The pump is serviceable, unlike most of the electric ones.

I looked at this, I wanted a mobile unit for around the yard (buckets, wheels etc) and for cleaning off a couple of rock formations around the house. I was given advice that nothing electric would come even close to a basic petrol washer plus they have to have a trailing power source, so I bought one of the Lidl 4 stroke petrol jobbies for €250. Ive had it 3 years now and it is by far the handiest piece of gear I've bought in yonks. Mobile and reliable as be damned.

Bought a Kranzle 135 back in the 90s - still have in good order.

After use, run it for a few seconds without hoses, to spin out all the water - and avoid frost damaging it.

Any harm in asking you what went wrong with the Karcher's you had? and what series were they, K2, K3,K4,K5, K7 ect. I've had a K3.550 for the last 11 years, never a bother until last week when the electric motor went. There is another make called "LAVOR" and they make a very good powerwasher too. Like everything else...you can be lucky or unlucky, but unlucky 3 time's is really pushing it a bit, I admit.

Both Karchers leaked in the pump itself. The pumps are sealed so you can't open them to service. I thought they were junk to be honest. I don't exactly abuse stuff. I have farm machines that are over 30 years old and still working.
I opened the lance of the Nilfisk and it's moving o-rings sealed on plastic. How can that hold 130Bar?

That's what happened my Karcher. The pump is spewing out water and lost all its pressure. I only ever used it to wash the car, never abused.

Bought a kranzle in 01 because I am not nearly wealthy enough to buy cheap stuff. Still going strong.

Have had a k3 here 8 years and that was my second, the previous was borrowed by someone who broke the inlet port by standing on it, I’d had it 6-8 years too.

Always thought they were great and fancy a K5 or K7.

That sounds similar to what I have. I thought it was called 'Bull', but I googled Bull pressure washers and found nothing, so I guess Bull isn't the make. I didn't do any research at the time I bought it..I just went into my local tool hire place and asked for a good one. I'm well happy with it anyway....

There is a make called PORTOTECNICA, and they are coloured red, and also made in Italy, as far as I know. I have seen them being used professionally hot / cold application's, and they are very good. Maybe that's the one you are thinking about? Google "portotecnica", and you will see the full range of them. Even the small ones are very powerfull. See if they resemble your one.

Thats a good question all right...130 Bar is pretty high, but the "O" rings are supposed to be designed to take the pressure. Did you have it long before the "O" ring went? and how long did the new ring last?? Only thing that i can think that might cause it would be the type water in your area? Or if sucking from a barrel etc. would it have been contaminated with any kind of oil? Any kind of oil ( diesel, Petrol etc) would be death to seals.
Do you still happen to have the broken Karcher's lying around the place? I'm looking for the electric motor .....should be min K3 to fit mine, if you have one like it? If I understand your post right, it was not the motor which packed up?

Nope, that's not them.....But I searched again. This is the best I found. I don't know if this company imports them, or makes them.... https://www.epswater.ie/products/category/high_pressure_washers

Its the first time I have heard if that brand, but the spec's are impressive, and you are very happy with the one you have, that's the way to be. It does the job for you.

I had the Nilfisk 2 years before the gun starting leaking.

And for that 2 years, it worked well?

Ya worked well but wouldn't buy one again. Got the complete run-around from everyone in Nilfisk and their Irsh agents when I tried to get a replacement.

Was still under the guarantee ??? if so, it was bad form and I would not blame you for thinking like that.

We have a kazzle also it’s about 15 years old still going strong. Unreal washer. I just wish I could get a Jenny to power as I have to but a petrol one now to clean another shed where is no power

As good as our kranzle is, cleaning slatted sheds is a bridge too far for an electric washer in my view. I did it for about 15 years with ours and eventually she needed a seal done in the pump. The service man told me not to be at it with her or she would go on me. He said to hire a petrol one for a bank holiday weekend and protect my kranzle that way.
I took his advice and did that for two years and at €60 hire for a bank holiday weekend an €70 - €80 of petrol I was able to wash all sheds. She was an alcoholic on petrol and I was on it from 6 in the morning until 9 at night to get all done in a weekend which would sicken even Whelan2 of power washing. I could not find a diesel one to hire locally or a PTO one. Eventually I found a diesel one for hire 50 miles away but that was too awkward.
In the heel of the hunt I bought a Yanmar diesel engined, hawk pump washer from Michael Stewart's in Portadown for €2500 inc VAT and delivery. It is a lot of money and I thought long and hard about it but she washes everything for €15-20 green diesel and the real beauty of it is that I can wash a shed here and there in the spring as they become empty and not be stuck at it for a week continuously. I also now wash calving pens 3-4 times during the calving season because it is easy do when the washer is there.
My vet has a saying that is very true, he says I am not nearly wealthy enough to buy cheap stuff. Hard to disagree with him.

Iv a kranzel powerwasher for washing milking palour only it's 16 years old it has got poor enough pressure last year or so and lance and hose are nearly new would I be better off looking to replace it rather than fixing something that old ??
Any one ever put an electric motor on the lance and hose ??

Well I bought a new Kranzle 1152 TS. It's 130 Bar and 10litres/min. I can't beleive how heavy it weighs compared to the previous ones I had. At 30kg it's not the kind that you'd pick up with one hand. The day after I bought it. I was in a tyre place and I spotted one in the corner. Asked the guy about it and he said it was the only one to have.
Only problem I have with it is at 10Lt/min, in seems to be starved of water in one of the sheds. I measured the water in a container from the tap and it's borderline 10l/min. I was thinking of betting a barell and connecting the hoselock fitting into a drilled hole in the bottom. Anyone ever try this?

Well wear, and long life with it.

Just be sure to filter the water coming from the barrel. I haven't done this (use tap water only), but heard of someone who does use a water barrel, uses a piece of nylon tights as a filter.

Can you not just let her suck from a barrel of water? Put the hose from the tap into the barrel to keep it topped up. That's what I do here anyway, as a tap feed won't keep a high volume washer fed. The only thing to watch is that you keep the barrel behind you. or you'll soon fill it with dirt. Or throw a cover over it, to be safe...

We've one too since 2004, ,it's connected all the time here beside a washing area so used for everything, tractors, cars, machinery, never gives trouble, We were warned to leave it flat while working to keep the oil in the right place.
