What is this?

I first though this was a piece of poo. It was on top of a fence and is about 5cms long (like half a sausage).
However on closer look, it seems to be wholly made up of dried insect parts, expecially cuticles.
    Anybody know what it is?

    An owl pellet perhaps.

Its a pellet left by a rook or jackdaw.

Are there any bones in it? Kestrels eat a lot of Beetles but you'd also find a few bones and some rodent fur! Failing that I'd go with J'spider and say some sort of Corvid pellet.....

No, it seemed to be all insect parts, legs, wing covers etc.
Plenty of corvids around here, so that would fit.
