Two jobs - Tax credit transfer

    Good evening,

I have started a new job on 1st of July and already registered with them on the revenue website, but my old job is still not ceased as I'm yet to receive pay for the unused holidays on 11th of July.

The thing is, new job pays monthly and the payroll department needs to have everything in order on 12th of July. As soon as I receive the final payslip I can cease the old job on the website, but my question is - how long will it take for my new employer to receive the tax credits? Is it an automatic process? Will the system generate an amended cert again? Do I need to do something once I cease the old job? Any chance my new employer receives the tax credits on the following day?

I'm already getting prepared to be hit with emergency tax(which is brutal when paid monthly), but I'm wondering if there's a chance and how this works.

Emergency tax is not brutal as you say ., Under these rules you are allowed a single person’s rate band for the first four weeks of employment . But you can't expect to have normal tax credits with both employers at the same time .

If you are receiving pay on 11th July, surely the payroll is sorted at least a few days earlier.
Get your P45 immediately , enter the figures on the website www.revenue.ie and inform tax office of your new employer using your PPS number .

Given the dates, this information is probably too late for you, but might help others.

There are no P45's any more. The old employer should submit your payslip with a leaving date, which notifies Revenue that you've changed Jobs. If you want to speed up the creation of a new RPN with a new employer, then get their Employer's Registration Number (often that is the same as their VAT number) and register your new job via myAccount.

You can transfer your tax credits and standard rate cut off points between employments in myAccount. So you can allocate most of your credits etc to your new job, in time for your pay run.

Once you change your details in myAccount, Revenue will create a new RPN for your employer to download. This should be pretty instantaneous.
