A poster posted a link last year here during the drought.
I think they had the app downloaded?

Any way it's a very detailed sat picture.
Showing the differences in crop growth. The information is used by commercial companies to farmers too. It's available every two days I believe.

This could be what you are referring too.
Below is the link that I posted last year of the Copernicus satellite which DAFM are using to monitor our farming activity.

    Kind of .

That article is just to frighten the bejesus out of farmers if they didn't know already there's an eye in the sky.

There's no link in that article to the data from the satellite.

It's looking like for anyone to access data they'll have to setup a username and password with which ever company they go with.

OP has already referred to that.

    Excellent, thanks very much.

Did you get any good of that?
Can you see your own field?

I'm set up on Eumetsat now.
I'll fool around on it tomorrow.

An excellent article, which contains some extra detail. American Worldview and GeoEye satellites, owned by Digital Globe, and by the French SPOT (Satellite Pour l’Observation de la Terre)

Sentinel 2 seems to be the satellite for "our crowd" and I think this is the software we need to download, but don't know enough about it to recommend anyone doing so.

Just thinking after reading your op. Who owns the satellite imagery/data that these satellites take pictures off. Is there EU legislation in place to protect me/us from any Tom, Dick or Harry sharing pictures on the interweb of our home's,farm's etc.

    No, it's all public access.
Just a bit more regular than Google map data.

There's commercial companies already making money by using the free satellite data and selling the information back to whoever's interested.
So I'd say the answer to your legislation question is no. The EU who own the Satellite seems to have made it a priority that the public can use the data in any which way they please. Whether for personal research or use it for commercial reasons.

To date the only satellite maps that I have seen are for 2012 and 2018. I am trying to get access to more recent maps.

Below are links to tutorials, which I have yet to trawl through.

This farmer's forestry area was remapped using the latest satellite technology and found to be 2 acres less than what was originally claimed for. He has been fined by DAFM and his BPS/GLAS payments have been held. He is appealing the case.
