Where is the best place to get the Japan pass from?

Lots of different options. I recently paid e247 for a 7 day pass. I bought from a registered agent based in Barcelona. It was cheaper than buying in Ireland or UK. The pass was sent via registered post.

If you are travelling within a limited area, say Kyoto and Osaka, it is way cheaper to get a local train. No need for jr pass. You can also buy cheaper regional passes. It all depends on how much traveling you have planned.

Absolutely. We planned the trip and it ended up being cheaper to use internal flights and local trains then the pass. Google Maps will have the price for each journey to help price it for you.
