Parking costs against tax

Hello, Can a PAYE tax payer claim against the daily cost of parking their car
in a private carpark while they're at their job? It comes to over €1100 a year :mad:

No for the same reason as u can't charge mileage to work, it's your problem how u get to work.

An employer can provide free parking without it being a BiK.

I have a family member who has to pay to park at work (on street parking) and gets it fully expensed at the end of the every month, what category does that fall under.

Because the employer isn't providing parking facilities.

No they cannot unfortunately

If an employer is willing to provide it then there is no BIK within the conditions being met

A self employed individual cannot either at their normal place of work as per tax briefing 3 and 4 from 2013/2014 audits

It certinaly isn’t, as I said public service job and all those working at the location have their parking expensed as there is no private car park for them to park in and the cars are sometimes needed for work purposes during the day.

There's the answer! Claiming expenses is completely kosher so; although that particular situation has got nothing to do with the OP's question!

Either fraud, negligence or the employer grosses it up and settles the tax. Onsite parking can be provided BIZk free but reimbursement requires it to be non taxable.
