Father in law wants to plaster the block work on the inside of the house.

Does anybody mix is used on internal blockwork? I know external is the corse plastering sand, cement and plasticiser

Back in his county they use lime based plaster.

    Thanks

Depends what you want to do.
    Is this a new build?
If it is insulation is more important than traditional practice.
    If not he's right.

Why does he want to do that specifically?

Its not a job for a diyer is my advice

    Just use normal plastering sand

But, internal mix is good enough at 4 or 5/1 sand/cement mix

I wouldnt bother using lime on internal plastering

It’s just to smooth off some new blockwork before we put up insulated plaster boards, but of patch work really.

So 4 or 5 / mix and add plasticiser too?

Yea, add some plas to make it workable, make sure to dampen down the blocks as well just before plastering, it'll give a better key

The bare blockwork in my last house's extension was just skimmed - the rough block providing a good key for the skim. 20 years later it's still fine: no cracks or anything
