    Hi all,

I've just moved into a new house and my
Darling son managed to leave the toilet on constant flush and drained the system.

Now I've no hot water in some taps and no cold water in another. I've tried that cover tap and leave the tap open to flush the system and it seems to have worked as the toilets are now filling.

Do i need to do that with all the taps in the house now?

First thing I'd be wondering if why the tank drained. It should be filling much faster than the toilet can drain it. You might need to replace the ball cock in the attic tank

Your attic tank feeds all cold supplies other than the kitchen sink (which is direct to mains). And also fills the hot water tank, from whence all hot water.

Block the outlet of your kitchen sink tap with a strong finger or, to avoid spraying from a less than strong finger: a towel wrapped around and the strongest finger you can apply.

If separate hot cold sink taps, open the hot, then open the cold. If a mixer, set the handle half way between hot and cold then open. Mains cold at the kitchen tap will drive up through the now open sink hot tap towards the attic tank via the hot water tank > cold feed to hot water tank tank > attic tank.

Maintain this for a minute or so and you should be good to go.
