“New” Leaf 40kWh

Ok a mate is getting a new Leaf 40kWh. Was about to buy and garage said to hold on for newer model.

So far he was confirmed the new model would have “MY19 models of Leaf have an new telematics unit and an updated navigation and traffic system along with the upgraded 8" screen. There have also been changes made to the options that are available in the SV model Leaf to include the ProPILOT driving system“

So the bit that is confusing is that they are now saying the SV Premium has the foot hand brake? This was only on SV before from what he thought?

Also he thought the SV and SV premium has cruise control, intelligent so it would slow and speed up with car in front. Nissan are saying now he needs to buy optional ProPilot to get these features?

The website is not updated so information is scare but did you need to buy ProPilot before to get cruise etc?

I don’t know so said best to ask here

luckylow10 posted this yesterday. It gives all the options/prices/etc

    https://www.windsor.ie/nissan/new-leaf/prices/

The entry model L40 is gone up €1200 for MY19 and then there are the extras (ProPilot, Bose, Cold Pack etc), then SV Premium and then SVE topping out at €36500!

Thanks, he has all that. He was happy to go with the old SV model and then was pushing to maybe the SV premium. But his understanding was cruise control came on the SV model. Not lane assist or anything, is that correct or was he wrong?

He is emailing Nissan Ireland and they seem to be confusing everything, the dealer says they have no confirmed spec yet

“Old” SV Premium L40 has adaptive cruise etc. and the parking brake is a foot brake. No ProPilot.

What does pro pilot add? The self parking is it?

LEAF SV PREMIUM 62kW MY19 COLD PACK

Heated seats and steering... at least that’s what it was in the L24/L30

I have the “old” sv prem leaf 40.

It has adaptive cc with slows and accelerates itself.

Pro pilot on the SVE just adds the ability to control the steering wheel too I believe,

Pro pilot parking does not come standard on any models I believe.

Also I was told by my dealer that any “changes” on the new MY19 weren’t worth the 1200 extract make of that what u will but i wouldn’t have bothered waiting .

We also got an extra grand off the “old” leaf 40 and 2 free services.

Oh and cold pack is worth the extra €400. Especially when the cold weather kicks in.

I recommended the cold pack, love heated seats

His big turn off on the SV was the manual hand brake. What’s it like in real life?

By the manual handbrake I assume you mean the parking brake / foot brake.

I’ve been driving the SV Premium for a year now which has this - I only ever use it when I park.

I do quite a lot of my driving using ePedal which takes care of occasions you’d use a handbrake for you (or at least to my fairly uneducated motoring mind it does).

When not using ePedal, I just hold the normal brake pedal rather than using the foot brake.

If you found that annoying, you could treat the ePedal button like a handbrake I guess?

It wouldn’t seem like a dealbreaker on the car to me... has never bothered me once I got used to ePedal

YEs I mean the hand brake, the peddle you need to push in when parked. He found it strange...

I didn’t actually know cars shipped like that anymore

I found it odd too... was a little concerned how I’d find it and then discovered I only needed it when parking and it’s fine just for that.

Would bother me if I was using it while driving

What’s the other differences in the SV and SV Premium? Just the around view? Does the SV come with parking sensors?

This is the current spec sheet (and prices) I got last week.
Apologies can’t embed the link, am on my phone.

The “new” leaf has the bigger screen alright and the sd card slot is gone. Not as many toys on the base model either.

It’s a year since I bought it so hard to recall - anyone on here with the SV spec? Does it have adaptive cruise control (which rocks)

Just looking at the spec link posted and I read it as no parking sensors on SV spec

Looks like it has the adaptive cruise control alright

That’s was understanding from spec but Nissan Ireland seemed to be confused with the leaf spec

They are saying only adaptive cruise with pro pilot, Sv and Sv premium have foot hand brake.....

I have an SV with coldpack.

It does have adaptive cruise which is fantastic, but doesn't have parking sensors, just a reverse camera. The parking sensors were an option, but expensive.

Looking on the Nissan UK site, it has the specs up for the MY19 model.

The Acenta which is equivalent to the SV here comes with Adaptive Cruise as standard, but has the option of adding full ProPilot for 1000 quid.
