Can't get a plate for a new vehicle

    All

    Question for the dealers here.

I'm after purchasing a brand new vehicle, its quite rare and is the only one in the country.
I bought it through a very reputable SIMI dealer.

The dealer is having major problems getting a plate for this vehicle.
He enters the chassis number on the revenue website and it comes up with something like unknown vehicle etc.

In the end he brought the vehicle to an NCT/VRT centre for inspection, so that it could be registered on the revenues system and hence he'd be able to register it, and get a plate for it. (the inspection happened yesterday 4th July 2019 around 10am)

How long should he have to wait until he can register the vehicle once the inspection is complete?

He's been aware of this issue for 2 weeks now and has be battling with revenue over why he cannot register it.
He's also been on to the SIMI for help.
I'm fairly certain this is not the dealers fault.

Anyone ever heard of something like this happening before?
It kind of strikes me as something like: the person whos job it is in revenue to do this, is on two weeks holidays, and the work is just being left on their desk.

Was really hoping to have a 192 plate on the vehicle on Monday the 1st, but it's looking like it'll be the 8th+ when it actually gets registered.

    Cheers
    G

Similar exp. a few years back, with a used UK.import.Even though I supplied the DVLA. doc's. I got a reg.cert. stating make "unknown". It turned out to be revenue's fault , the vehicle did not show up on the data base .I had to go back to revenue to have another inspection. It all took time eventually after 5 reg. cert's, I was happy enough with the cert. It was still not accurate ,but close enough. Since then I tend not to take reg. cert,s as proof positive.

Aww come on OP, don't leave us in suspense. It's got to be something beautiful (or lightspeed ugly) if it's the only one in the country :-)
