Toilet keeps filling then overflowing

    Hi all,

I recently had a hot water leak in the shower in which I had to shut off the supply and drain from hot press tank to stop the leak.

Since the leak has been fixed and the water has been restored - having issues with the upstairs toilets, two of them - they both appear to continuously fill until it reaches the overflow tube - thus a running toilet. I've adjusted the float lower down to see if that helps - but it keeps filling up. I've manually tried to lift the float up and down to see if the valve shuts but I don't think it is.

Apologies if I have not explained myself properly - I've uploaded a video below - water has reached the float but water still filling from the top of the inlet tube.

    Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

If the filling doesn't stop when you lift the float then sounds like you need a new valve.

Though i would check that it's not just blocked with crap from the bottom of the tank first.

Got this sorted the day after posting. Drained the cisterns completely and adjusted the floats down. Refilled and valves shut correctly.
