Recommend A Multi-Tasking Laptop

Hi,

My XPS17 which is about 10 years old is on its last legs so I'm planning on replacing it quite soon. Its ultra heavy as well but has served me well.

I'm a programmer by trade plus I also work a lot with video & photo processing so RAM & Screen quality will be important to me.

I've been out of the laptop/pc purchasing game for a good while so don't want to miss out on any important things like new processors being released etc.. so any help greatly appreciated.

My budget is €1200 but I could stretch a bit further for the right machine.

Have been looking on the Outlet sites and like the HP-OMEN-15

Plus the Dell XPS machines and have heard good things about the Lenovo X1 Carbon (Have 10% code for this)

Any other machines I should be looking at?

gaming laptops don't typically have very accurate screens in terms of colourspace if that is important for your photo and video work.

both the xps 15 and x1 carbon have good screen ratings but you need to check the difference between the screens on different models carefully as a 1080p screen option may not be as good as the 4k option etc.

problem is that the 4k version is a lot more expensive of course.

still the 1080p screen is not too bad at all and bests most other laptops.

have the 7th Gen x1 on order the i7, you wont have any change out of 2k. you may pick up a bargain on a 6th gen as the 7 has just been released in the last two weeks or so.

The Dell outlet in the UK is always good for cancelled orders.

prices are still fairly high on the xps - also VAT is added onto the initial price shown

Yeah why did you go for the X1 over the XPS?

X1 our fleet at work is all Lenovo. Moving from a yoga 370

quite different laptops really - x1 carbon is all about lightness and the famous Lenovo keyboard whereas XPS (except a new base model) has a discrete GPU (not the most powerful one by any means) and is good bit less portable.
