Police vetting from my time in Australia

Has anybody who spent time in Australia had to get police vetting when they came back home for employment reasons ? Apparently for most airport jobs you need garda vetting plus vetting from the police in the country that you were staying with. I was 11 months over there. I spent most of my time in NSW if that helps.
