Ok the time is come to possible get one for travel entertainment and to load up stuff to watch

I am Damned if I do and Damned if I dont if we do decide to get Junior one but there is only so much of Thomas the Tank engine I can watch on the TV:rolleyes:

Was looking at the firetablet but seems to be lacking in space then had a look at the Huawei Media Pad T3 which looks ideal

In research mode and posted over in family forum but now looking for Techie input as we would need to limit what Junior can watch etc and set timers etc

Also see if we can create one profile for us to use and another for Junior. Would look at rooting it to get stuff of it but thats not a showstopper

    Any suggestions?

Had a look at the Fire HD 8 Kids edition, this the one you have? If not how do you find it and how does Junior find it?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Fire-HD-8-Kids-Edition-Tablet-Alexa-Display-32GB-Blue-Kid-Proof-Case/dp/B078HRR9MW

How is it for adds popping up ?

Can see I can add more memory to this so I can load up any cartoons etc onto it?I would like to remove any garbage that is pre installed but is the only way of doing this rooting it? Checked on XDA but seems not the easist and dont want to lose anything that would change access to it for Junior

He loves it and uses it daily. He's only 5 so we use the Firetime tablet restrictions but I have side loaded the Google play store to the adult account and also Emby, Minecraft and YouTube vanced which his profile can use (there's an app for this I'll get the name later when I'm home). I've also added a 16GB SD card as his has only 8GB storage and move some apps to SD card.

+1 for kindle. you cant beat the bang for buck factor, plus the fire kids mode give you a lot of control.

    Cheers

Looks like its the best option.

Do you have to pay for any options from Amazon ie Amazon's FreeTime Unlimited. Take it you can load movies etc onto the SD card and they can be played there on long plane journeys?

I've not paid yet, but will when the free sub runs out.

I use Emby sync to sync media to the SD

just make sure that you buy a decent quality memory card - with class U1 at least and preferably U3.

even then would get the 16gb version if possible as you still need internal storage

the fire tablets are very weak cpu wise - ok for playing cartoons but not great for running anything beyond the most basic games

the fire hd 8 16gb could be a better bet over the basic 7 version as it has more ram (and a better screen)

    https://www.androidcentral.com/amazon-fire-7-vs-fire-hd-8-which-should-you-buy

although the 7 is geared more towards kids of course so it's mainly watching stuff then the 7 could do the job fine.

there does seem to be a kids 8 version tho also

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=fire+7+kids&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

you can also buy a normal fire and then buy a kids type case for £10 to £15 as currently the kids version of the 7 is £100 and the non-kids 16gb is £50. of course you do get that extra insurance thing on the kids version and the 1-year content

could be cheaper depending on prices at the time.

    like this
