    Hi guys,

    A swarm of bees appeared in our garden this morning. Is it safe to be around them? There are thousands of them in a tree on our lawn. We have young kids so worried they will not be safe playing outside. How do we remove them from the area? Thanks.

    i suspect the best bet would be to find a local beekeeper, but i can't get the contacts page on the irish beekeeper federation site to work.

    They should be quite safe, when like that they are usually very docile.

    Best to avoid all the same.

    They'll stay there for a bit till the new home is picked.

    Not long.

    What county are you In.

    Beekeeping forum this way ->

    Apparently swarms like that are usually very docile as Danzy says, and a local beekeeper will probably be happy to remove them for you. It's a natural process and happens when a queen leaves the hive with a group of workers to set up a new colony.

    They could be there a day, maybe two or they could be gone by dinner.

    Hi Danzy, thanks for the info. I am in Laois. Just emailed the local bee keepers about it.

    You can report honeybee swarms at swarms.ie and they may be able to arrange a local beekeeper to come and collect the bees.
