    Hi all, as the title says certain apps on my phone cannot connect to the internet properly. Netflix wont load, Amazon wont log in, eBay wont log in, Snapchat wont send pictures although it will receive them. I can use google play and browse the web though. This is ONLY an issue on my home router. If I’m using mobile data or any other wifi network I have no issues.

    I have done the following to try to resolve the issue;

    Restarted phone, uninstalled affected apps and reinstalled them, cleared all relevant caches on phone, restarted router, reset router, disabled IPv6 on my broadband, tried disablingIPv4 also and I also did a factory reset of my router. Replaced the router, changed to google DNS, tried multiple DNS actually, changed MTU from 1500 to 1498(someone on an android forum suggested that)

    None of these things helped.

    My phone is a Sony xperia xz3 on android 9. My home broadband is just regular not fibre broadband. I get about 4 mb.

    Anyone else have this issue? Any advice at all?

    Broadband with eir. Getting between 2 and 4 mb. Any other device works fine. Brothers phone is android 9 too and everything worked fine. Eir took the phone to send off for repair. I'm not convinced it's the phone though.

    Have you always had this issue on this phone?
    Is it a new phone?

    Are you getting any errors or just constant loading?

    Check your dns again

    I had the same issue primarily with netflix. I was certain it was my Huawei P20 Pro was the issue. I had changed my dns on router to Google I guess ( which when I think about it might make sense, Huawei was the only device that had issues with the dns).
    I even logged a support ticket with Vodafone. They remotely accessed my router and changed my dns back to default and that fixed the issue.

    OP has mentioned amending DNS settings but I suppose tis good to look at this again.

    OP, does the phone have issues on other WiFi where Eir is the provider?

    Ya I misread before replying. The symptoms were exactly like mine which drove me mad for a few months, so maybe there is something with the dns server.

    OP if you can't figure it out it might be worth logging a support ticket with eir

    No issues on any other wifi. BUT, the only other Eir wifis i have access to are all fibre whereas I'm not.

    Eir requested the phone back to "be repaired" but i know there's nothing wrong with the phone. I've sent it back anyway to keep the case open.

    Yeah the phone is new and had this problem from the get go. No errors just a never ending loading on log in screens and snapchat fixes up trying to send and just says "failed to send try again".
