Scrap Seat Ibiza

Not familiar with this forum so apologies n if there is a big thread on the same topic.

I have an 11 D Ibiza with a fubared engine. 2 garages have said the repair cost will be approx €2k. I dont like the car so am happy enough to get rid.

I am buying a car from UK so cannot take advantage of any scrappage deals.

What is my best option to get rid? Id imagine it has some value, however small, which will come in handy toward the new car.

    Cheers.

It's not worth much as it with a fubared engine, probably worth more if you can break it for parts and sell the parts separately. Scrap dealer would probably give you less than €100 for it.

Was that 2k repair for a second hand engine fitted?

8 years old only and the engine packs in. Is that the 1.2l from the Polo again

What mileage is on it, what condition is the car in other than the engine being knackered?

The cheapest similar one on donedeal is asking 4750 which seems a bit high but sure even if realistically a working one in average condition is worth around €3k then spending 2k means your will get your money back and 1k in your pocket? Will you get 1k for an Ibiza with a fubared engine? I'd doubt it.

    Mileage about 45000kms.

Your post makes sense to repair and flip it. That’s probably what I’ll do. Any bit of a profit then is a big bonus. Thank you.

I would get it repaired and put it on donedeal the same day. Accept the first reasonable offer you get and never see the car again

As a matter of interest, what is the exact issue with the engine, and when you say 2 garages quoted 2k, are these main dealers?
45,000k is small mileage on ANY engine. Something seems way off here
