Inside Apollo House

Watching Inside Apollo House (a homeless shelter). It's difficult to understand how many of the group's social rights members didn't seem to have helped the homeless in any way that matters. Some of the mouthpieces even went on to sell a "swish modern seafront pad on Dalkey, for over €2.3m". Yet I fail to find any account of them providing a house to one single homeless family.

Apollo House and the pile of protesters shedding tears for their chef during the sit-in :

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/rough-sleeper-found-dead-on-dublin-street-was-registered-sex-offender-36101826.html

According to court reports Watson was jailed for 18 months in April 2008 after he was convicted in Bendigo County Court in the state of Victoria of indecently assaulting two girls under the age of 16.

He was later jailed after a court heard he knowingly passed on the HIV virus to a woman.

It sold for more than €50 million, someone made money from it. I'm sure the area will be de-scangerfied in the process.

    It was absolute nonsense.

190k donated. 60k spent. 40k of that 60k was spent on security in stopping the residents killing each other. The other 130k probably still resting in a bank account.

Aside from harbouring a Sex Offender and giving him glossy photo shoots, the amount of people that fell for the Home Sweet Home nonsense was quite scary. The media played a huge part in glorifying it and not asking questions. It probably why we never hear anything about it anymore. They got it wrong (again).

Still amazing how the McVerry Trust can make a business from the misfortunes of others

There's so many more dodgy organisations being financed, €30k per homeless person was mentioned, joke of a country, industrialised homelessness.

Should we all be homeless now, Father? Only the farm takes up most of the day and at night I just like a cuppa tea.

And this is the reason why RTE propagates the non-crisis on almost a daily basis.

Get an effin job and stop waiting for the tax payers to fund your dysfunction. Sick of this homeless crap.

Jeez almost everytime there is a sponsored walk, moustache shave, yada yada, it's for de homeless. Stop pushing this agenda and while you are at it, stop having multiple babies, if you can't put a roof over their heads.

    (Exceptions of course).

a number of people did get a job and didn't wait for the tax payer to fund their non-disfunction. there is such a thing as people who are homeless and who work.
presumably for those who don't have a job, you are going to give them one yourself? no? didn't think so.
even protesters can have jobs and work believe it or not. shift work, different work hours, etc. not all 9 to 5 these days (actually that has been the case for a very long time now for some professions)

what homeless "crap" . there is homelessness in ireland. that is a fact. there are many different reasons and factors involved in it and every case is going to be different but denial of the issue and ranting "garra job" rabel rabel and all the usual soundbites, is not going to make it go away.

no, it isn't. such events happen for many issues.

    what "agenda" exactly?

that is a great soundbite for an ideal world, and if we were in an ideal world i would be agreeing with it. however in the real world, do you think that is going to happen? no . people have children, that is just a fact of life. you are going to have to deal with that reality and the reality that children born in to situations where the parents for whatever reasons are unable to provide full support on their own, will receive supports from the state.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

i didn't miss it at all, don't worry.
however given whoever would fit into your exception would be an exception, then from my point of view there wouldn't be anything to comment on in relation to said individuals concerned.

I have a job and cant afford to live anywhere here. The dysfunction is in the market itself. Estate agents are advertising a glorified shed around the corner from my parents as a studio apartment. We arent far off from the tenements of 100 years ago. But think things should be fine becuase everyone has nikes and smartphones...

Not talking about you. Can't listen to these mothers of 3, average age of 20 and pregnant demanding housing courtesy of the tax payer to which they have contributed nothing.

Yet the media continues to promote more cases of people supposedly about to be living on the streets without one difficult, or obvious, question.

I think a lot of people are fatigued by the word "homeless". Apollo House and the scammers did more damage than good.

Erica "Free Forever Home" Fleming, Margaret Cash and the likes of the freeloaders.

While the real shame is that there are young couples working their ass of, who cant afford a home , being discriminated against because they work.

I work in homeless services and that shower that organised and ran Apollo House did more damage than anything else .
There are still individuals living in homeless hostels who were told bare faced lies that they were going to be housed.

I can still see the faces of some of them when it was being explained to them that they were told lies.

I’m confused about the Dallkey pad in the first page. What’s that about?

Listen to the lies from 1 hr 37 min into this. Not one question about personal responsibility. It’s actually quite depressing: http://rte.ie/r.html?rii=9_11054978_83_28-06-2019

To abuse and use the most vulnerable and weakest in society (as well as telling them bare faced lies!) like this crowd did at Apollo House is as low as it gets.

Same people that will moan about "bankers", "vulture funds"...etc etc

    You know the drill.

End result - a lot of damage done to the cause they claimed to be protesting for. People saw through it.

Unbeknownst to these people - those that work hard to get by in this country are not stupid.

My friend was a helper down there and the cash just rolled in then they ****ed off. Wish I had thought about it. Cars were pulling in and handing over cash. Nice little earner Rodney....

The true homeless need help the roof over their heads is the last piece of the jigsaw

We should be out on the streets protesting and marching about the lack of mental health services for the people of this country

But it ain’t a sexy banner to march behind so nothing happens

I'm shocked that Kitty Holland revealed that they abandoned their rented accommodation. And even more shocked that she revealed the family were replaced in the Hotel by Asylum Seekers.
