Baby Hare

    Hi All,

I'm over for a few days in a remote part of the west of ireland. We have had a baby hare around the garden all evening. It was really cute to watch and eating grass, running around etc looks healthy.
Anyway he/she seems to have got themselves settled in an area directly outside the patio door huddled in behind a large plant pot - before dark we (the family) were sitting down the other side of the door able to get a good look at it without disturbing it. We are leaving it well enough to it's own devices.

Just a few questions. How old roughly would it be at this stage? Any need to leave any food out or leave well enough alone?

    Thank you

Hard to say on age by description but just leave it alone.

You are lucky to get the chance for close up observation.

Thanks for the reply and the link. Very interesting read.

As of writing it is still there outside the door! We'll leave well enough alone. I would image it will be long gone by morning!

    Thanks :)

If it's eating grass, it's already old enough (as in, it's been weaned or it's in the process of being weaned) - if it were a baby bird I'd say it was a fledgeling :). I have to say, though: I'm very envious! :)
