I have an intel i3 8th generation with 8GB ram and SSD drive. Ubunto works fine except youtube videos play abit choppy now and again. It's like trying to watch them on a very low end system which cannot always keep up.

Ubunto has generic drivers for intel CPUS? What about graphics chips, I have an intel UHD 620 graphics adapter in my laptop. Would the choppy video have anything to do with incorrect display drivers ?

I like Ubunto but I might revert back to windows if I cannot solve this.

go to software & updates then you should see software sources make sure the first 4 boxes are ticked then reload when asked. install ubuntu-restricted-extras & vlc for the codecs side of things then on the additional drivers tab do a scan and see if it installs anything. another thing ive added is the h264ify add-on to firefox to play different video format on youtube

I3 is a seriously old CPU. How old is your PC?

Yeah, right! ..... most released in 2018!

What about this one released in Q2 2019 ...... still seriously old?

    I stand corrected. :o
I know the i3 range are generally low end spec and thought they were all quite old.

Apologies ....... reading that back it reads very harsh. Sorry. :o

13s are not great but there are much lower spec CPUs from Intel that are current also.
