I've all my taps running just in case the pipes over-expand and crack.

That's the thing to do, right?

About time it arrived, it's been so cold the past couple of months that anyone with independent thought might have believed the earth was cooling or be as ultra crazy as to think weather was cyclical .

I got a weather warning from my weather app an hour ago. It was for ‘Extreme Heat’ tomorrow from 12 midday to 6pm. The forecast temperature is a whopping 24 degrees celsius. I immediately drove into town and went into Tesco and bought every available bag of ice in their freezers. I have 47 of them in my freezer now...Ha!!

I'm only happy when it rains.

And I don't understand why sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain.

That just leaves in the heat. That’s where the heat comes from.

Mind your pets folks, its that time of year where the inevitable story pops up about some absolute moron leaving their dog in the car to die slowly.

As a true ginger, I have been dreading this. Before anyone jumps on me, I always complain about the heat but never complain about the cold. I prefer winters. Easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

Today, it's 27°C in Limerick. I was due my lunch at 4pm. At that time, I proceeded to apply my Factor Fuk-Off-Sun (aka factor 50). At 4.11pm I went on my lunch and walked down town. I stuck to the shade and it was still too warm. When I had to walk through the sunny parts, I actually thought I was going to melt. I had told my supervisor to tell my family I love them if I didn't return. No clouds. Baking sun. Shaved head. A big bushy ginger beard. Prescription sunglasses from 2008. One Piece t-shirt, blue jeans and fancy Brooks runners. Slightly overweight and 5'6". I'm sure I looked some sight, big red head on me from the exercise and sweating like a paedo in playschool.

Remember folks, when the temperatures rise, keep your gingers indoors. If you can't place your palm on the ground for more than 5 seconds without burning, it's too hot to let your gingers out. If there is a ginger on here who likes this weather, then you're not a true ginger, stop calling yourself one.

I opened the fridge doors stripped to my underpants and socks(they don't come off) and lay on the cold hard floor

The staff at Aldi were none too impressed

To be honest, I didn't think it was that scorching today.

Very warm yes, but last year's heatwave was on a different level.

I thought the media got a little hyped up over it. They love a good story don't they? Last year was scorching but I don't remember the warnings. Maybe I'm wrong.

It's not like we are getting what France, Spain and Italy ate getting. It was still in the 20s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,201 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

Not a fan of the heat but I had a busy day of calls from home so it wasn't too bad indoors.

    It's still roasting now too.

With ya there. I'm straight but I'd still be tempted if he was offering moustache rides.
