Went to the Burren cycle Saturday and it was great, weather, atmosphere etc.

On the drive in from Kinvara to the start line there was a backlog of cars, all with bikes on board. Anyway turns out the hold up was a group of lads cycling 2 abreast having the chat, assume they were heading in for the cycle too.

What's the story with this ? It was comical really ... inconsiderate and dangerous too as cars tried to duck in and out around them on that road.

I know its ok to be 2 abreast, but really ... you know its also ok to have some manners and free up the road for other users (in this case cyclists too I guess).

The argument that its safer and easier to pass a shorter group of riders 2 abreast rather then drive by a line of single riders is just nonsense.

So you were annoyed about not being able to close pass them singled out and blame them for motorist dangerous overtakes?

Don't be rediculous, this is where the agenda for next month is formulated. Motion to compel Jimmy and Timmy to stop talking on a sunny Sunday seconded.

Jimmy and Timmy, your presence at the July meeting is compulsory.

I'm closing this thread as it's leading to nowhere.

    As per charter:

There are lots of places on the internet where you can have a rant about cyclists. This isn't one of them. This is a place for people with an interest in cycling to discuss cycling. If you treat it as a venue for holding all cyclists to account for perceived or actual misbehaviour by some, you can expect to find your access swiftly removed. In short, we are not your punching bag. If you really do want do want an answer to your gripe, do a search. The usual topics, such as cycle lanes, cycling two abreast etc. have been discussed, ad nauseam, many, many times before
