My other half works in a semi state company and has one of those pensions where they automatically contribute and the amount of pension is based on the salary at time of leaving.

If my wife took out a private pension would she be entitled to tax relief i.e. up to 25% between 40 -49 etc?

Check if a worker can have an occupational pension and a personal pension.

    Usually they can't.

What a worker can do in this situation is AVCs.
