Making front seats higher?

Love my new Honda Jazz but I'm finding the seats too low in the front. Even with cushions it's not great as they slip around when you get onto them. I have an elderly parent who finds it difficult to adjust to the cushions and they tend to slip out to the side and make it hard to get the seatbelt clipped in.

Is it possible to have new higher runners fitted? Is there any company that would make professional cushions that won't slip and slide? Trying to find a solution and any advice would be great!

There is a lever to raise seat already. Does your model have this?

Em, yes! Not high enough. My old MPV was taller and I still needed a cushion!

You could adjust the angle/position of the steering wheel but I'd imagine you're referring to a lack of visibility rather than comfort. Padded seat covers may or may not help in terms of height, they're probably mostly aimed at back support.

I think they just need to readjust to the new car vs your MPV. cushions aren’t an ideal solution, I don’t mean this in a harsh way, more that they’re used to one particular car.

The Jazz isn’t an MPV so won’t have as high a driving position. That said, for their class they’ve got a high position.

Motability Ireland would be able to fit a modified passenger seat. Big money though.

Thanks. I really love the car but I just feel more secure sitting in a higher position. Is it possible to have the seat rails heightened?

How long have you had the car?

    Three weeks

I reckon the best approach is to drive the car but get rid of the cushions etc for yourself as this isn’t actually helping. You need to get used to the smaller car.

Nope, not going to happen! Have to have a cushion. I'm only a little thing!

Try a European spec Jazz for comparison. The seats may be lower in the Japanese version, or it might have less height adjustment.

Not much help for me now!

With a view to swapping seats over...

Lifting the seat up is essentially the same as continuing to use firm pillows.

No. Cushions tend to slip no matter how firm they are and you're constantly adjusting them.

I recall now you mentioned it in the OP.

Are you using a specialised car seat cushion or a normal house cushion?

Could you use one of those booster seat for children?
Just the base part. Shouldn't slip

A memory foam cushion on top of another one!

You could try getting a suitable piece of foam from an upholstery shop cut it to shape then secure in in place with an after market seat cover from Halfords. It would be much less likely to slip this way.

They can be got from the likes of bride who specialise in racing and bucket seats. Won't be cheap tho. Garages that supply the Motorsport industry would be your best bet
