A question for an accountancy teacher

    Hi,

My child is due to start 5th year in September and has opted to do Accountancy despite not doing Business Studies for Junior Cert.
I recently completed a Business degree and studied Accounting as part of it and was hoping to do a bit of work with my child over the summer before they start 5th year in September.
I'm therefore wondering if an accountancy teacher could give me a bit of advice on what areas to focus on?

I think you should get the 3rd year business studies book/ exam papers and teach your child everything in the accounting section so they have that bit of knowledge going in. No harm looking at the business theory too because a lot of it is common sense and will explain what different things are in the record books.
