Questions regarding my renewed driver's licence

I had to renew my drivers license recently and got my renewed new credit card size license in the post today. Full Irish Drivers license

    Couple things i've noticed

    1. On my old license(the pink one) I was covered for driving categories A, B and W. Part 9 on the front side of the new license lists categories i can drive i.e. A and B. Category W (Tractors) isn't listed on Part 9 on the front side of the license but is listed on the back size with the license valid from and to dates. Categories A and B are also listed on the back side of the new license with the same valid to and from dates

    2. My old license had the 101 reference on it relating to renewal subject to submission of valid medical report due to medical condition. I called this out when i was in the NDLS office getting my license renewed. On my new license there is no reference to 101 reference

They letter that came with the license said that if you have questions or stuff is wrong on the license to post it back to the NDLS

Before doing that just want to check

For point 1 above - should category W be listed on the front side of the license under section 9. Is it an issue that it not called out on the front side but is called out on the back side

For Point 2 above - should 101 reference be appearing on the license or is it a case that they don't put it on the license but it is listed/recorded on their NDLS records

    Thanks

    1. I'm not really sure why some categories are listed on the front. Perhaps they are 'primary' categories. Mine has DE, CE, A and BE only on the front yet has all 16 categories listed on the back.

    2. If you only have A, B and W you shouldn't require a medical to renew and therefore it doesn't need to indicate 101 (unless of course you have a specific medical condition which may impair your driving). Mine only has 101 beside the trucks and buses.

Thanks Wishbone Ash. All the categories are listed on the back of my license too and the valid from and to dates are listed against categories A, B and W wish is correct. But on the front of the license only categories A and B are listed

Thanks Wishbone Ash. Yes I have a specific medical condition that requires medical cert

I suspect for 1 it is that there is a kind of hierarchy to the categories where some of them imply others and so they don't all need to be listed.
i.e. if you have CE you must have C, similarly for BE, DE, and B implies you have W as it comes automatically with B I think.

    Thanks Cruzer01

    I phoned the NDLS today

They told me pretty much what you said above re hierarchy of categories and that Category W not appear on the front side of the license is ok

Regarding the 101 reference; this was on the license...I didn't see it. It was down on the bottom left hand side of the reverse side of the license

So all good and license correct

That's all for replies and help and information

Just jumping in on this thread: I renewed my licence last year and I got the credit card sized version. However, on that one I can't see where it says the date I passed the driving test and/or when it was first issued. Where should I look, and is it something I should query with them?

It should be listed in section 10 on the rear (the second of the 4 columns).
