M50 Toll, late payment

Vodafone had a huge network outage on Thursday and I was unable to pay the M50 toll €3.10 x 2, I passed through it late at night before driving home and forgot all about it until the following evening, I know I should have paid it by 8pm but I paid it at 22:15. I'm not sure whats the situation but I paid it as soon as I remembered. I live in Kerry so don't pass that way so often but I registered for a video account now which saves 50c per journey also.

Will I get fined or taken to court for being 2hrs 15 mins late in payment? My first journey was at 18:10 on Thursday 13th and again on Friday morning around 2am as I was going to Belfast and driving home again round trip.

Worst case scenario is you'll have to pay another 3.10x2 within 14 days although I think they are pretty lenient about the 8pm cut off as I have definitely missed payment by a few hours on more than one occasion and never heard anything more about it.

You won't be taken to court, and very likely they will be OK. If you get a letter give them a call, explain the situation and very likely they will waive the penalty if you sign up for a basic video account (no tag, just card details or direct debit for monthly discounted payments).

You paid it, now forget about it.

I'd say onceyou pay before 12 you'll be fine. Done that a few times and never got fined.

In my experience, if you pay before next business day morning hours it's fine.

    Examples:
I've driven through Tuesday 2pm, should have paid by Wednesday 8pm, and paid Thursday 2am and it was fine.

I've driven through Monday 6am, should have paid Tuesday 8pm, but paid Wednesday 10am, and it was too late and I faced a fine.

I've driven through Thursday 3pm, should have paid Friday 8pm, but only paid on Tuesday 1am (Monday was bank holiday) and it was still accepted.

Don't take my experience for granted though as it was about 4 to 5 years ago. Since then I got video account.

You'll probably find they'll take the toll off the video account anyway, happened to me when I paid cash for an unregistered car and when I registered it they credited the cash payment and took it from the card.
