Laptop connection issue

    Hi all.
We have an Acer Swift laptop bought in Curry's since last xmas.
In the last while I have been losing connection to my broadband when using office 365.
When typing a word document for example I get an error a couple of times a minute but it's only for a second.
When opening web pages I get it less times as it has to happen just as I open the page.
I've been onto eir tech support as I thought it was a broadband issue.
They've changed all the settingsb and an engineer has come and checked the line.
Last call they said to borrow another laptop and do word documents simultaneously and lo and behold, the other laptop was fine.
    I'm stumped now
TLDR, can something go wrong with a laptop's "wifi chip"?. am I missing something before I go back to Curry's ?
What do I say to them

The broadband connection has nothing to do with editing a Word document. Turn off or disable the wi-fi adapter and see if you have the same problem.

Yes, the onboard Wi-Fi chip can fail. The solution is to buy a Wi-Fi USB stick, it's really not economic to repair the onboard chip. Even if Currys take it back for a warranty repair, the chances are that whoever gets the machine will start by reinstalling Windows so your data will be wiped. If I was you, I'd ask them to supply a Wi-Fi USB stick in lieu of a repair.

A few options here, I'd recommend the TP-Link AC600 which costs €23, it's currently the third option here ....
