Up to date Garda Vetting?

Looking at a job advert and it says "applicant must have up to date Garda Vetting", is this something I need to request in advance and prove/bring? I had always thought it was only something that could be gotten by the potential employer. It's a job working with children.
Would appreciate anyone's advice, thanks all!

Your new employer has to vet you. It doesn't carry over from job to job.

That's what I was thinking, thanks Johnny
