RX 570 models can be had much cheaper.
Also half those etailers don't ship here.
Used savings for better motherboard/case/power supply.

    *edit*
Yes, that Arctic passive would work BUT the be-quiet is practically inaudible anyway - main fan noise will be coming from GPU but even they should be quiet, seeing as they're dual-100mm.

Or else just buy a pre-built, amazing value at the moment from certain retailers.

    2600X, RX580, B450M, decent case, 240GB SSD - £599.

    Just an example.

Half the RAM & no HDD though.

Can be configured for very little extra.

Honestly, over the past couple of days I've geared myself towards building and then you went and posted that pre-build on the other thread! :pac:

I thought it would be much cheaper to build yourself, but apparently not. I'll have to dig a bit deeper and make a decision today - I need to get whatever ordered today. I'm not looking for a big garish case though, small, neat and quiet is what I'm after so I'll have a look at their other options.

    It does have a 2600X and a RX580 8GB though! Decisions decisions...

Thanks for that. I had a look at this guys videos yesterday and found them really helpful. If anyone else is in the same boat as me I'l definitly recomend - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIQfFIBjfXE

One quick question - do the SATA data cables come with the motherboard? That's not clear from what I saw.

I'm not looking for a big case - is that MicroATX I originally picked just crap? The reviews on Amazon looked ok but I'm happy to be overruled.

Both the case and the CPU come with stock fans, yet people seem to replace these by default as part of their list. Is there a reason for this? Are they worth trying first and upgrading only if necessary?

Ok, so had some time this morning to go through everything and look at some reviews. Wanted to build myself just for the fun. Decided to go with Amazon for everything because of postage.

    Here’s what I went with -
    Ryzen 5 2600
    MSI B450M Mortar
MSI Radeon RX 570 ARMOR OC 4GB
    Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 MHz
BE QUIET 500 W System Power 9 PSU
Corsair CC-9011086-WW Carbide Series 88R Windowed mATX/Mini-ITX Case

It came in at £500 which is around €560

I think I would have gone for a RX580 over the RX570. Double the memory of the 570.

Did you not order an SSD/HDD?

Agree you should have went with the RX580, price difference is not much compared to the huge Memory upgrade.

    £125 for the 4GB RX570 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Radeon-ARMOR-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B071CFM8XS
    £148 for the 8GB RX570 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Radeon-Armor-Express-Graphics/dp/B0785Q6DYP
    £170 for the 8GB RX580 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-256-Bit-Memory-Express-Graphics/dp/B071Y7XJXN

To be honest, I wasn't even going to spend that much for a card but was genuinelly surprised on how much they have dropped down in price so was happy to go for the 4GB 570.

I have a 128GB Samsung SSD (see first post). My plan is to make sure that works ok then get a 2nd drive for data\programs.

Due to the 4gb in the RX570, you will find yourself upgrading ALOT sooner than if you went for the 580 8gb option, alot of games are using more than 4gb Vram now

    Even for 1080p?

    Even for 1080p?

I don't think anything is using >4Gb for 1080p - but even if it did, the beauty of PC gaming is you can just tune settings.

Oh absolutely they do, see it a lot in games where they give an estimation of VRAM usage, that if I try to use higher settings on my 970 that it's over the 4GB VRAM that I have to use!

It is a concern, but you can just tweak the texture details down a notch if it ever does bottleneck. It's still an excellent card and it'll keep you going for a good few years, unless you suddenly decide 4k is the only way you want to game from now on. Now away with ye and stop scaring the man into thinking he made a mistake. It's not. It's a budget oriented decision.

That’s pretty much it. It’s my first build and I wanted to stick to a budget. Luckily, I’m coming in under but didn’t want to spend just for the sake of of it. I may still need to get fans.

I didn’t really want to bother with overclocking but when I saw how easy it was, I went for a better motherboard and the 2700 is perfect becyo can run it as normal for work then ramp it up for games.

The 4GB 570 is absolutely fine for now and in a year or two I can simply upgrade it or add a second one!!

Oh, my kit started arriving on Thursday but I was horrified when I opened the CPU box. Lots of dust on the fan blades and screws and the paste had clearly be used and wiped off the chip and heatsink. I went ballistic at Amazon and got a refund. They gave me a £10 voucher as an apology. When I bought the replacement, it had gone down a fiver.

    Happy days!!
