Anyone know anything about this from a consume point of view?
as it are we all going to have to have smart phones and scan our fingerprints or face recognition now to buy things online?

sounds like something that will drive me more to the actual shop

I wouldn't be too concerned. Every website has to have it. Whatever the authentication, you'll get used to it very quickly.

I suspect that if you are using a phone that is registered with your card account there may not be too much if any extra layer as they can extrapolate details from the phone.

For desktop they will send a text to your phone as one option.

PSD2 is a EU directive and a very sensible one at that, it'll reduce the amount of unauthorised credit card use online.
    Its fairly straight forward

forgive my ignorance but that doesn't tell me anything really. all stuff that doesn't really make sense or answer any of the things which I understood would change.

yes, I was of the understanding it had something to do with credit card purchases online.
    but, I don't have a smart phone.
I don't want to be giving anyone my facial recognition or fingerprints.
so what does it mean for me?

I can't be the only person that does have a smart phone but doesn't have any coverage at home.

It's your bank that will be asking confirmation not the website you are buying from.
It's an extra layer of security to protect your details.

In most cases it will simply entering a code that is sent to your mobile. A smartphone is not required.
If you can't do this, they will give you a different option such as answering a particular question.
