I was told that Shortwave radio transmitters go all over the world yet I don't get much inside. If I go outside through I get a lot more stations. One station that I am trying to receive is Voice Of Korea after watching this YouTube vlog which was someone brave enough to go in to their country and video stuff.

    Have you an aerial?

Even a telescopic one should allow you to receive Voice of Korea reasonably easily. What frequency are you trying on?

You're reminding me of my youth now, listening to propaganda from all over the place in the late 70s.

I'm trying the higher frequencies in the daytime and lower at night but I don't know what frequency is the best.

I don't know about any Irish stations on shortwave but the BBC World Service still do broadcasts.

The BBC World Service is not a pirate, but it's good to know that they are still using Short Wave!

They are on 15245 kHz in the 19 Metre Band from 7pm to 8pm our time. Very noisy signal with me. I can't hear them on the 22 Metre Band frequency. On again at 10pm.

To Europe on 13650 and 15245 kHz

    15:00-16:00 UTC
    18:00-19:00 UTC
    21:00-22:00 UTC
    13:00-14:00 UTC

Just received a station around 6.3mhz that may interest you all called Lazer Hot Hits. They were playing oldies music similar to RTÈ Gold. Wonder where it transmits from.

They are on 6205 kHz, well known pirate station. You can listen on this online receiver in Carlow, and hundreds more around the world.
