I have some scrap metal to be removed from around the yard.... including a very heavy old oven. Does anyone know whether you would need to pay someone to collect it? Or would a scrapyard buy it off you?

    Depends on current scarp prices.

I know we collected a load over time and they sent a lorry out, lifted it all and the check came in the post.

They must have had big windows on the weight bridge timmay cos they saw you coming and fleeced you.
That should have made a better price

Similar to original poster, we have a load of scrap metal, mixture of steel, iron and lead from a 50yr old workshop along with an old stove which is extremely heavy. We contacted United metals in Limerick who said stove is worthless as it is cast iron. Sounds a bit weird to me. Anyone have any advice?
