Scraped a car, what will it cost me?

    Hi guys,
Was driving in Cork city on Saturday last looking for a place to park, went down a road which was not marked as a dead end but inevitably was! Cars were parked on both sides and instead of reversing all the way back the 100m stretch of winding road, I attempted to complete a very tight turnabout. I scraped a car beside me, a 2012 Skoda Superb. Was planning on simply rubbing off the marks with a microfibre cloth and seeing how it looked, but lo and behold the owner arrived and was enraged. He demanded insurance details but said that he would ring me with a quote and I could pay it or he'd go to claim. The damage didn't look that bad to me but I'm worried I'll get hit for a grand repair job. Any idea what the repair would cost? Thanks in advance!

You'll be a long time rubbing that.
5/600 easy assuming you haven't broken the tabs off the headlight.

    Take off bumper.
    Fix scrape
    Repaint and blend
    Refit.

    Bout 500 maybe.

Okay, within what I expected, definitely not my worst case scenario, but obviously not ideal. Thanks very much for your reply!

Thanks for your reply, hopefully it's not much more than that

Well that's a bumper off job, with a full prep of that whole bumper and respray you'll probably be looking at 6 hours time no all of it labour obviously expect 400-450 but you can test that theory out by asking for a no obligation quote by submitting your photos and other details here. Then you'll have something as a benchmark

Assuming the headlight isn’t damaged, I’d say €350-400

That headlight looks like it might be a xenon.

If they're prepared to have a few chips on it - bumper respray - 4-500 notes.

If they want the light replaced add 6-700 to that easily.

    Just

I got off lightly so when I had a full bumper respray don't for €250 a few months ago.

Big bucks if the light has to be replaced though.
