Staking poppies

I have two very large clumps of perennial poppies. They began flowering in May of last year then we had a vicious storm at the beginning of June and they were destroyed. That should have taught me a lesson.

Here we are again. Beautiful plants in May, load of buds. Then awful weather for the last 2-3 weeks has given them a beating. I've tried to put a ring of short bamboos around and tied the green rubber-covered wire around, but it slips down and it's probably too late for this year.

I was at Bloom and saw a couple of exhibitors were selling hoops that you push into soil early in Mar-Apr as the new growth starts to develop. Can't find similar anywhere here in the West of Ireland. Not sure what those things are called either. Any suggestions on where to buy or how to fashion something similar?
