I can't get my boot to open. The problem is it's a Peugeot 407 and there's no key to open it but rather an electronic fob. Any ideas for the best solution?

It's making the clicking noise like it usually does when the boot door is opening but it just won't lift up. I've tried pressing down on the door as I press the open button too but no joy. There's nothing in the boot either so it can't be something pressing against it.

If the key is opening the car doors, access the boot from the inside of the car, until the issue is resolved, it could be any number of issues, most likely battery failure on fob.

It's opening the main doors no problem so I'm not sure if the battery is the issue, I'm thinking maybe the latch on the inside of the boot door is faulty

With some one pressing the fob, try hitting the door with the palm of your hand near the lock. Otherwise as suggested in the above post, let down the back seat and access the lock from inside. With the back seat down, and some one pressing the fob, you might be able to see what the problem is.

I've tried that already but no luck. My only option at this stage is putting stuff in the boot through the back seat.

Had a similar issue with a Nissan Xtrail. Turned out it was the door lock actuator. Once o got the boot opened, I took it out, took it apart, cleaned the motor with contact cleaner, and popped it back in, worked a treat

Then only thing for it is to remove the cover on the back door, and open the lock manually. Its probably something very simple to fix, it's getting to it is the problem.

The boot stop/plate sometimes moves with all the banging hard over the years, you can unscrew it and move it a few mill one way or the other ( just a thought, and a good lash of grease where the boot meets the metal plate)

Thanks for all responses. After a good couple of hours trying everything, I retire for the day and get back at it tomorrow.

Usually it's broken cables in the rubber flexible conduct that joins the body to the boot lid.. Get yourself a torch drop rear seats and climb into the boot and there's a small hole on the plastic cover over the boot lock which you can get a small screwdriver into to manually release the boot.. Once its open then check the cables.. ðŸ‘
