    Hi all

My car has been in storage for the last 9 months, should I take any precautions before I start the engine?

Fuel tank has fuel stabilizer and the battery was on a trickle charger. It is always in storage for 4-6 months each year, I’m just a bit concerned it’s been 9 months this year.

    1996 BMW petrol

    Thanks

What other things do you usually do? Put extra air in tyres to keep them from deforming?

Just standard stuff, I leave the windows open, extra air in the tyres and cover tailpipe

Keep an eye on the oil light when you start it. If it doesn’t go out after a few seconds shut it down.
Ideally if you can crank the engine without it firing up to get the oil moving.., then let it sit for a bit before running it you’ll give it as good a chance as any.
If I was concerned I’d pull the plugs and crank it for a bit.

suggest you park the tyres on either timber/ wood / ply as it prevents the tyres from deforming or those dreaded little red ant yokes taking over.
