Chip in windscreen - rough cost to fix?

Have a chip in my windscreen, it's on the drivers side just below the driver's eye line. The chip is actually three small little chips, each 1 or 2 mm, all within about a 2cm radius. Car is a 2016 Skoda Superb.

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to fix? Autoglass website suggested that because it's on the drivers side it may need a replacement instead of repair.

Their site isn't accepting my address at the moment so can't go through the full form to get a price.

Are we talking a few hundred euro?

I have windscreen cover on my insurance but would rather avoid making a claim.

If you have windscreen cover the claim wont affect your next renewal or ncb.
Youve already paid for it, use it.

I've seen conflicting advice on this, so if people are saying that windscreen claims are definitely not treated as actual claims by all insurers I'll probably go down that road.

I had two similar chips on mine. I decided to go through my insurance to get it fixed as, on my policy, it wouldn't count as a claim. I have, however, had to tell any insurance company I've gotten any quotes from since as technically it counts as a claim. It doesn't affect my quotation price though
Anyway, charge to fix it was €316. That was two years ago, think it was AutoGlass that did it..

Had something similar done by independent garage in Carlow cost €70 . The area was not completely clear but like a semi translucent grey. Passed NCT but annoyed me every time I drove the car.

Broken down it's a separate chage on my insurance so doesnt fall under the main cover. I queried them on it when i needed a replacement a few years ago.
While on the phone you could ask them does it affect the rest of your policy.

    Ask your insurer

    If it's Axa
The following claims will not affect your No Claims Discount:
    Fire
    Theft (or attempted theft)
    Windscreen/glass breakage
    Loss/damage to personal belongings
    Fire brigade charges
    Car and key rescue

It doesn't. I've had a few windscreens replaced and one chip repaired. Always disclose at renewal, even on my bike policy, and its never mattered, some companies don't even bother with it when I tell them.

Check your policy. I got a windscreen replaced about 10 years ago and it didn't effect our no claims. I just got another windscreen changed about 2 weeks ago, I had to pay the excess of course, but it shouldn't effect the no claims bonus.

Had to get a stone chip sorted a few years ago, wasn't bothered claiming for it on the insurance, cost me €40 cash
