Accident, mirror taken off

On some country back roads yesterday evening, no white line but plenty wide enough for two abreast. Came across another car flying around a bend and flying towards me. I moved in close to the side and continued as I normally would. They didn't keep close to their side and managed to destroy my mirror and probably theirs too.
I pulled in to the nearest entrance way but they had drove off and hadn't stopped.
I caught it on the dash cam but looking at the footage it's not very clear they are at fault but does show them at speed. If I had to guess they were 80+ and accelerating.
I've contacted the guards and they are sending someone out to get their details and explain I have footage.

Any ideas what will happen next?

Probably would have been each fix yer own except for the fact that they failed to stop/remain at the scene of what was a minor incident..can't prove what speed the other car was doing and guards won't b too interested..no revenue for them in a broken mirror

At least the guard can follow up with the other driver to make sure they were all legal on the road.
Might also show them they were caught & lucky this time.
A guard calling to the door would be a wake up call to most (But not all).

Unfortunately you will just waste time and emotion on this. Find a scrapyard with the parts you need and reassure yourself that it could have been worse.

Did the dashcam get their reg?

If so, the Gard may very well tell them to pay up or be charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Any yes, I know leaving the scene doesn't actually meant that they're liable, but we all know how there's a big grey area in how the law is enforced in this country.

Got the reg from the dash and guards tracked him down today so I have his details now.
I was a bit annoyed at the time with the whole driving off but calmed down a bit today. I'd say a main dealer, BMW, would be a pretty penny. If he's willing to admit and pay up I'll sort it myself and just charge him the minimum but if he's awkward then I'll let the insurance handle it and take it from there.
Car looks atrocious today with a smashed up mirror :D

Thank God you are not dead, that was close.

Chances of mirror being paid for are nought I'd say, show the Guards, they might be able to track down the driver and frighten him to sense.

it could be his mirror didn't break and he didn't realise there had been a coming together (or he might claim that). I'd slip round and see if you can get a photo of his damaged mirror
