2013 Ford Focus 1.6 - timing belt or chain?

    I've been googling but I can't find the answer. Is it a belt or chain fitted to those engines?

    If its a diesel then it's a timing belt.. These are an 8 valve engine so belt only, The older (pre 2011) 16 valve had a belt and a short chain joint both camshafts.

    yea its a diesel. not sure when it was last done, its due a service to will get it done to be on the safe side
