Would you always do better with a garage if you’re trading in what they deal in?

Example: you go to a Toyota dealership and you want to buy from them and you’re also trading in a Toyota. Will you get a better deal?

Or is that a myth and works out pretty much the same regardless

There is no written rule but generally speaking you can get a more favorable trade in price from a dealer of the same brand especially if they know the owner and the car's history. There are a lot of factors though depending on the car, if the car is demand and availability is low then it can work in your favor. However it can work the other way also where the dealer has 10 similar cars to yours for sale so isn't too keen on taking another one into stock.
